Release what doesn’t serve you anymore…
Are you a pack rat or have a hard time throwing anything away?
Do you have clutter physically or emotionally and don’t know how to begin cleaning it up?
Do you hold onto old stuff that isn’t serving you anymore?
I moved recently and really cleaned house so to speak.
I have been very intentional as I have downsized and do not have the space for all the stuff that I have accumulated through the years.
I also realized that I have been holding onto stuff that doesn’t work anymore and it has been taking up space.
There were some old memories and emotions associated with this stuff that I had been holding on to have been released.
I realized I didn’t need this stuff anymore, it doesn’t fit who I am and it doesn’t serve me.
Why do I need 40 candles?
Why do I need 50 items of Tupperware?
Why do I have 25 coffee cups when I only use 4 or them. The ones I don’t use are not ones I like so why are they taking up space?
Why was I holding on to 20 years of tax returns?
There were surprises as I went through many boxes. I found my 30 + years ago college English papers and read them and realized, wow, I sure have improved my writing. I loved my professor too as she gave me some really good feedback that I realized that is why I kept them. They were positive and encouraging.
Now, I could have read them as there were many mistakes and said to myself, “I am terrible, How could you write like that?, how stupid are you, anyway?, or negative thoughts like that.
I remember a time that I would have done just that. My inner critic would take over.
I went through every box and made the determination either to throw it away, give it away or keep it.
I used 3 criteria of either 1. Have I used this in a 2 year period? 2. Do I like it? 3. Does it serve my needs anymore or does it fit?
As I was going through this process and still am as I have more to do, I thought about what others habits or perceptions of the world were these items associated with that have changed.
What ways was I looking at the world that had kept me from moving forward?
What fears had I held onto that had kept me from growing?
I think of my clients and how I admire them so because many come to me to give up old habits (i.e. food cravings, emotional eating, putting everyone else first, not speaking up for what they really want, lack of confidence mindset) and releasing their tough inner critic that is not serving them and they know it and want something better.
I see them face that and do whatever they have to do to get it done. Even if they are scared to do so they do it anyway.
Even if it is a little non traditional and out of the box.
The thing is I don’t have my clients do something that I haven’t done myself or doing myself.
What would you like to release that is making you feel stuck and isn’t serving you anymore?
What is your inner critic saying that you would like to release?
I would love to talk with you and show you how you too can release whatever is not working for you now so you can get to what you really want.
