EFT and the set up Statement and acknowledgement
The set up statement in EFT is basically stating the problem and then a self acceptance or acknowledging statement.
We state the problem and then we accept it.
Something along the lines of “even though I have this problem, I deeply and completely accept myself. ”
I love the set up statement, because it is acknowledging. I think there is so much power in acknowledgement. Most of us (including myself) are always resisting the problem. When we stop resisting healing can begin. Owning our feelings is the first step to healing.
What you resist persists. I have heard that so many times. I know it is true with me and that is the same with my clients. What I am learning and know that it is really fighting against the problem is keeping it in place.
My clients tell me that it is freeing to finally say what the problem is. Their eyes light up and many times it is the first time someone has recognized it for what it is. And they accept themselves anyway. The struggle ends and we move forward.
Saying “I completely love and accept myself” may be hard for some to say so we change the statement to fit the client. It is after all your session.
Many times, the acceptance statement can be “I want to completely accept myself or I am open to completely accepting myself.
Or, “I am ok with myself”, or “I honor and accept myself”.
